Computer building tools
Computer building tools: What tools am I going to need?
Computer parts are actually quite simple. Lucky for us, computer parts have been designed with mass production in mind. The most basic hand tools are all we need to finish our project.
Tools needed
- Needle Nose Pliers
- Screwdrivers (flathead – Phillips - torx), preferably anti-static
- Anti Static Wrist Strap
- Eyeballs
- Half a brain
Needle Nose pliers
We won’t need this tool very often. The main use for our pliers will be for changing the little plastic connectors on our hard-drive and cd/dvd rom drives.
Screwdrivers
The tool we will use the most is a screwdriver. The Phillips head and flathead are the most common. Occasionally you will come across a torx head (the little star shape), but these are mostly found in the mass produced models from Dell, HP and Sony etc, etc…
Anti Static Wrist Strap
Some computer parts are sensitive to static electricity that we discharge from our bodies. Through the years several improvements have been made and most of the newer manufactured parts are not as susceptible to this.
However; if you happen to have some older parts, care must be taken. If you cannot obtain an anti-static strap, be sure to firmly grasp the metal frame of your computers casing so that you can release your static charge into something that is not important. Don't miss on this one!
These are all the computer building tools you will need: No soldering, no complicated processes: Just pre-produced modules, easy to plug and screw together in a snap! Incredible? Yes.
And you give away your shirt and more when you buy an off-the-shelf model, from a young salesman who knows far less about computers than you will after you have finished my course! Am I a Senior Citizen with an attitude? Didn't I tell you, on my homepage! Remember, I am a long-time Computer Engineer; I know this stuff, and soon, you will, too.
