Build 3: Video and Sound Cards
Time has come to install your video and sound cards: We are moving forward in good speed!
If your motherboard doesn’t have an integrated video card, or if you decided to upgrade right away, we can now install the video card. The newer machines today come with AGP video slots. That’s the brown slot closest to the processor.
When installing the AGP video card, it may take a little more force than the memory. Don’t be afraid to use a little more energy than before, we need to make sure the video card is seated properly.
Now we can install our sound card. Generally it is a good idea to install your sound card in the farthest slot away from the processor. There is a good technical reason for this but I am quite sure you do not want to read three extra pages of drivel to know why. So for now, find the farthest slot away from the processor to install your sound card.
There should be a cable that came with either your sound card or CD/DVD drive. This cable connects the sound card to the CD/DVD drive so that you can hear sound when you play CD’s or DVD movies on your computer.
Your computer is now equipped vith video and sound cards. This means that you can attach the screen, and you can enjoy sound.
In the next Build article, we will move on to the heavy (even more fun) stuff!
